Job description

Montessori Nursery Teacher with QTS or a Montessori Qualification and Nursery Nurses required – Level 2 and Level 3!

An opportunity has arisen to join a fantastic Montessori Nursery who are currently looking for a Montessori Qualified Teacher and Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Practitioners to assist at their setting in South East London.

The role is a permanent opportunity for both the Montessori Teacher and Nursery Nurse roles and will be on a full time /Term Time, contract where the shifts vary from 8am – 4pm, 8am – 5pm and 9am – 6pm sometimes 10am – 6pm dependent on the rota, however you will be expected to be flexible within the hours. The Nursery is an all Year round Nursery.

Skills required

You’ll need:

• Ideally knowledge of the early years curriculum and especially if you are a Montessori Trained Teacher, having experience of working within a UK Nursery for a minimum of a Year
• organisational skills
• excellent communication and observational skills
• the ability to build good relationships with children, parents and staff
• A qualification in Childcare (minimum Level 2) with Level 3, QTS or Montessori qualifications being desirable
What you’ll do
The aim of Montessori teaching is to learn by doing, rather than finishing an activity or making an item to take home.

You’ll guide young children rather than give instructions, using specially designed equipment to cover 6 core areas of learning:

• practical activities used in everyday life
• training the senses – sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell
• literacy and language
• numeracy and arithmetic
• knowledge and understanding of the world and different cultures
• creativity

Your day-to-day duties might include as a Montessori Teacher and some duties as a Nursery Nurse:

• planning a programme of work and activities
• preparing the learning areas and resources, and making sure they’re safe
• watching the children and making notes of progress and issues
• making sure all children have equal chances to learn
• supporting parents and involving them
• looking after sick or injured children
• helping with dressing and undressing when needed
• feeding children when required
• attending staff meetings
• keeping records and writing reports

Salary
Starting salary for this role is negotiable depending on level of qualification and experience. The Nursery do normally pay an hourly rate.
